This piece was on my old account. I'm putting it here because I believe it's note-worthy. This was an assignment in freshmen year for Digital as Illustration. I had to modernize a legend of some kind. What better then the Rime of the Ancient Mariner?

Comments are very much appreciated! Also critiques. please critique if you wish. Im not going to jump down your throat because of a little constructive criticism. In fact, I'll probably thank you.
This is great. I love the old mans face, and the 'thing' he is holding. I am not at all familiar with the Rime of the Ancient Mariner so I have no idea what this is about - would you mind explaining for me.
Yeah sure thing. The Rime of the ancient mariner is an ages old poem about a sailor who kills an Albatross that is following their boat. If you've ever heard anyone refer to bad luck or the like as an "Albatross" their referencing (whether they realize it or not) the Rime of the Ancient Mariner. anyway, they encounter like a ghost ship and then his crew dies, and their souls get captured. Basically the premise is he kills this Albatross and as consequence, all this fucked up shit happens, then he's rescues and wanders around from seaport to seaport telling his tail.

great work overall! nice shading & excellent job on the bird. i just have one suggestion: the old man's hands should probably match the wrinkly-ness/overall texture of his face.
yeah I noticed that After I finished it. It's something to revisit next time I have some free time. I plan on doing the whole hand over again. Thanks for the advice
